A Glen Park family walking their dog in Glen Canyon on Sunday morning caught amazing footage of a tree splitting apart and falling across the path just up from the rec center.
The family was on the path when they heard a short crack in the trees and some rustling. After a few seconds they heard another crack, then a series of cracks, increasing in frequency.
They looked around but didn’t see any movement, but did notice a tree with the split down its middle.
At that point one of them pulled out a camera and started filming the tree.
Moments later, the top of the tree split in two and fell some twenty feet to the ground. Despite the sounds that had come before, they were still surprised when the two pieces came crashing to the ground (you can hear the gasp in the video.)
The entire process took only a minute or two, they told the Glen Park News.
Thankfully, only a few people and dogs were around and no one was hurt when the tree fell.
