Hello Friend and Supporter of the Greenway,
The grass plants that we put in the Native Meadow in January are looking really good. One of the secrets to their success is the careful watering using their drip irrigation system that we installed on the south side of the trail in March. Now it’s time for us to complete the irrigation system by putting it in to the other side of the trail. Drip irrigation is the most water-efficient way for us to care for the meadow plants so that they survive their first couple of summers and establish themselves as a drought-tolerant, functioning Native Meadow.
We’re going to have two work parties back-to-back in early July. We will start work on Friday afternoon, July 8. Not everyone can volunteer on a weekday afternoon, but if you’re able to, please join us. On Saturday morning, July 9, we’ll get back to work and if you’re a Saturday volunteer I hope that you will join us at 9:00am for coffee. We’ll break for a sandwich lunch at noon and, for those who have more energy (and available time), we’ll finish off the work in the afternoon. We’ll supply tools and equipment. Please bring your own tools if you have them: see the tools specified below. If you’re unable to come for the whole party it will be fine to just show up for an hour or two. Please email me to tell me when you expect to join us.

San Francisco’s rules in response to the pandemic are changing. We will be working in the open air by ourselves or in small groups.
Please bring a mask with you and, if you find yourself congregating to chat or need to work closely with any other volunteers and they
feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please wear yours too.
Please email me to tell me when you expect to join us.
I hope that you’ll be able to join in this work on the Native Meadow and look forward to working with you at this important pair of work
parties.
Many thanks for all that you do for the Greenway.
