Those of us in the San Francisco column business get a lot of mail from old San Franciscans -and they all claim that somehow, some way, the city was a lot better years ago.
It was cleaner, nicer, prettier. Everybody knew everybody. There weren’t all those annoying young people riding bikes right down the street and wearing jeans everywhere, even to the opera. And the homeless people! They would have all been run out of town. San Francisco was better then. You should have been there.
