Date: Thursday, October 25 2012
Time: 1 PM
Location: San Francisco City Hall, Room 263
What: Supervisor Scott Wiener will conduct a public hearing on the state of San Francisco’s urban forest at the Government Audit and Oversight Committee. The Department of Public Works, Planning Department, Recreation and Parks Department, and community groups like Friends of the Urban Forest will be called on to discuss the findings from the Urban Forest Master Plan, as well as any recommendations that resulted from the study. Among the issues discussed will be DPW’s current practice of transferring ownership and maintenance responsibilities of street trees to private property owners. The hearing will also explore potential funding sources that will allow the City to retain ownership and maintenance responsibilities of street trees.
