Below, the item from the August 20 Ingleside Station Newsletter:
“Ingleside Citizen of the Month / August 2021 The Citizen of the Month for August is Marian Dalere. Marian is a native first generation San Franciscan, who was raised and went to school in the Glen Park neighborhood. Marian followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a licensed cosmetologist, working in her family-owned small business. As merchants in the Glen Park Community, Marian’s mother felt it was important for them to be members of the Glen Park Merchants Association (GPMA) as it allowed them to meet other business owners, and gave them insight into the neighborhood. Marian has been a member of the GPMA for over 30 years, and she is the current Vice-President. Marian was inspired and motivated by her family and business leaders to take on her current role, and she feels honored and obligated to do her part to keep her community thriving. Marian enjoys making great connections with her fellow merchants, helping them stay up to date with City government news, and offering business support through social media and social events. Among her personal interests, Marian enjoys traveling the world, she’s an avid iPhoneographer, and she has volunteered as a barber for the “St. Baldrick’s Brave the Shave for Kids with Cancer” event at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. Congratulations, Marian!”
In reacting to the honor, Marian told the Glen Park News: “It was a great honor and acknowledgment from Captain Jones and the Ingleside Police Newsletter. But personally I think it was a great acknowledgment for the Glen Park community. I’m happy that Captain Jones recognizes all of us here in the Glen Park Village.”
