The day is upon us! Hurry back to Glen Park from wherever you’ve gotten to… nine hours of top drawer pianists are going to be caressing the keys of our piano, and you have a chance to help us buy the thing & make it a permanent fixture on the Bird & Beckett stage.
We’ve been through a number of pianos, all of them endearing in one way or another, but this is a good one indeed and up to the task of our ambitious music schedule in your little neighborhood bookshop.
Are you a player yourself? Line up at the 2 o’clock hour and we’ll try to fit you into the line-up. Angie Bennett and her daughter Lucy will kick off that little segment…
…falling as it does in a sequence that begins with Si Perkoff at noon, and continuing with Don Alberts at 12:45, Jon Jang at 1:30… picking up again after you & at 2:45 with young Clara Dingle, Randy Craig at 3:00 joined by Steve Shapiro at 3:40… then Betty Wong and friends (a flautist and an accordionist) with some wonderful tango in solo and duo settings… a little Satie and a little Chopin by Rebecca Whittington and Bonnie Knight, respectively… world-traveled composer, conductor and pianist Stephen Prutsman… and New Orleans R&B practitioner Macy Blackman to round it out from 8 to 9…
along the way, Dorothy Lefkovits, Nora Maki, Denny Bertheume, Steve Stein, Jeremy Lieber, who knows who???
Whaddya say, will you help us buy this piano and keep the music rolling at Bird & Beckett, in Glen Park, in San Francisco, in America in 2011…
Welcome to your world… ya gotta share it, but by doing so you invite a whole lot of folks in…
love you madly,
Eric, prop.
