Win Garden, Glen Park’s newest restaurant, will open Friday in the Diamond Street location recently vacated by China House. It will be open daily for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Shiliang Guan and Spring Huang, the new owners, have put together a large menu featuring a selection of Szechuan and other Chinese dishes, including a range of dim sum (available all day) and both standard vegetarian and soy-based “meat” dishes. They have applied for a City beer and wine license.
All dishes will be available to eat in or take out. Win Garden will offer delivery, catering of party trays and, when the new website (wingardensf.com) is up and running, on-line ordering.
Guan, who has worked at Peony dim sum restaurant in Oakland and Mission Chinese on 16th Street, will be the chef, and Huang, who worked as a waitress at Wonderland in the Haight and Big Lantern in the Mission, is in charge of the front of the house. Huang said they have been looking for three years for a restaurant of their own.
They are more than business partners – they have been married since 2008, and are expecting their first child, a girl, next month.
