A woman was held up at gunpoint on the 600 block of Chenery Street on Sunday afternoon at around 3:00, said Capt. Nicole Jones, captain of Ingleside station.
The victim was a 25-year-old Asian woman whose purse, wallet and cell phone were stolen, according to the police report.
The man brandished a handgun at both the victim and passers-by, Jones said.
“The suspect later fled in a vehicle, driven by a second suspect. The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing,” she said.
According to one woman who saw the incident, when people on the sidewalk yelled at the man to leave the woman alone, he pointed the gun at them as well, then got into a waiting SUV and sped off.
There have been at least two other Sunday afternoon incidents involving guns in Glen Park in the past six months.
On Sunday, January 25, 2021, a man was injured in a drive-by shooting at the corner of Chenery and Brompton.
And on December 6, 2020, a drive-by shooting at Sussex and Diamond left another man with non-life-threatening injuries.
