Higher Grounds turns 40

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of Higher Grounds, where Manhal Jweinat is the owner, manager and chef de cuisine. Manhal is a modest man, so he didn’t have a celebration. But devoted regulars gave him a heartfelt round of applause, and the Glen Park Merchants Association brought him a card and some flowers. In weeks to come,  Supervisor Mandelman will be presenting him with a certificate of honor.
Hollywood superhero drops in at Manzoni

Actor Jason Momoa (famous for Aquaman, Justice League,and Dune), dined at Manzoni a couple of weeks ago.
Momoa has a mutual friend with Manhal Jweinat, owner of Manzoni’s Italian restaurant, who  brought him to have dinner at the popular Diamond Street spot.
For the record, Momoa feasted on  fettuccine with garlic and oil (Aglio e Olio).
