This year Halloween in Glen Park was bigger and better than ever.
The San Francisco Police Department blocked off much of Chenery Street west of Diamond Street, making for a much safer evening. Police estimated that more than 3,000 people visited the neighborhood.
Officers stationed at Chenery and Lippard said the department had decided to block off the street because Glen Park had been tagged as a “hot spot” for trick-or-treaters and they wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe by keeping cars and little Jedi Knights, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles and Harry Potters well apart.
Earlier in the day Glen Park Elementary’s Halloween costume parade left the school yard and made its way down Chenery, to the delight of neighborhood residents.
One event that stood out was a visit from Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, whose mother said she was working hard to keep fit. However, Judge Ginsberg told this reporter that she still planned to eat “a lot” of candy.
