At around 3:00 p.m. Sunday, my husband Michael and I set out from our house to buy a carton of milk at Canyon Market. It was pouring! We walked down Mizpah as the rain surged down along the curb.
By the time we reached the bottom of the street, it had started to hail. The hailstones were the size of Israeli couscous and quickly began to blanket the sidewalk. Slippery going!
We continued on our way, stopped for coffee at Higher Grounds, but no luck, every seat was taken. As we walked home, the hail was melting quickly, though lingering in patches here and there.
The entire event lasted little more than twenty minutes, just enough time to send a jolt of surprise and delight.
