Gun shots heard near Mateo and Arlington

January 18, 2011 by Elizabeth Weise

From a neighborhood email list:

About 8:35 the south end of the block heard a series of what sounded
like gunshots and a few of us saw two people get into a waiting car at
the stop sign at Mateo and take off.

The police came quickly, but were not able to find any evidence of
gunshots (specifically shell-casings) despite searching the area.

Their theory is that the gunshots may have been fired at a passing car
on San Jose — they don’t think the incident has anything to do with
the neighborhood other than our vicinity to San Jose Ave.

The police asked that we circulate the case number (110-052-682) and
ask that anyone call the Ingleside district at 415/404-4000 with any
new information. The investigating office is E. Paras, #1431.

As always, if you see any suspicious people, call 911 or the local
emergency number (for cellphones): 415/553-8090 or 415/553-0123 for
non-emergency.
