Now that the smoke has cleared, join us on Saturday, December 15, 9 a.m. to noon, to plant, weed, mulch and eat. We’ll have coffee to start and sandwiches and cookies for lunch. RSVP here so we know how many people need food and do not waste it.
We’ll meet at Chilton and focus on the following tasks:
- Plant some Manzanitas: These were planned for the planting day last August but never made it into the plant shipment. On December 15 we’ll be able to plant them
- Direct seed Oaks: Over 80% of the direct-seeded acorns that we planted last December sprouted. However, a few didn’t work out, so now we get to try again by direct-seeding some of this year’s acorns gathered from the Oak Woodland in Golden Gate Park.
- Sheet mulching the direct seeded Oaks: Keeping the direct-seeded oaks free of competing plants for their first few years will produce much bigger trees, so we will put down cardboard as a sheet mulch around the oak seedlings.
- And… we’ll weed around the plantings of shrubs and trees.
If there is heavy rain on the day of the work party we will cancel. However, a light drizzle will not be enough to dampen our enthusiasm!
Please remember to RSVP by joining this event. Many thanks for all that you do for the Greenway.
