Glen Park Author Louise Nayer talks about her book, Burned: A Memoir
A creative writing instructor for more than 40 years and the author of four books, Louise Nayer will talk about the art of creating a memoir and read excerpts from Burned. Burned was an Oprah Great Read, and won the Wisconsin Library Association award. The book chronicles the nightmare of an explosion in Cape Cod, the nine months that Louise and her sister were separated from her parents as they went through numerous surgeries, and the final reconstruction not only of Louise’s mother’s face and her father’s soul, but of the family itself. Haunted by panic attacks as an adult, Louise knew she had to write the story of the explosion.
