We are officially in the fall market! To add to the delay in bringing some
properties on, we even had an unexpected real estate crisis earlier in
August. The crisis we dealt with was not very widely reported, so you may
not have heard about it, but the provider of our MLS (multiple listing service)
site (Rapattoni – who also provides the site for the MLS that serves Marin
county and about 5% of MLS systems across the country, I believe) was hit
with a cyber-attack in early August and we were without the system for two
weeks. This really put into perspective how much we take some technologies
for granted.
Luckily, real estate agents in general are a resourceful and creative bunch,
and we found ways to pivot our sourcing and spreading of information and
made the best of it. We are fortunate that this little hiccup took place during
the slow part of the end of the summer and we are back up and running for
the post-Labor Day influx. It’s still going to be a bit before all of the
historical pictures are back in the system, so it’s still a bit of mud-walking for
us (figurative…not like Burning Man!)
Having just attended a twilight showing at a listing from my office at 150 Wawona
in West Portal last week, I can attest that there are lots of people
out there looking! My favorite listing in Glen Park from last week’s broker
tour is 216 Bemis because it is such a unique property. Two houses on one
lot with a little tiny extra empty side-car lot. The two houses on the property
could certainly use updates, but they are a really cool look into the past with
a neat cabin-like feel, like you’re out in the woods! If you buy this
house, please invite me to your housewarming party, and of course, if you’re
interested in checking this house out, give me a call and I’ll get you in!
I’d like to bring attention to a charity that I have been involved with since 2000 that needs a little more love from the public right now. I routinely give 10% of my commissions to charity and half of that always goes to Raphael House and the other half goes to a charity of my clients’ choosing. I highly recommend you check out this organization which has been serving homeless families in San Francisco since 1971.
