Dear Glen Canyon Neighbors and Folks Interested in our Glen Canyon TRAILS Improvement Project,
Our Contractor is finishing up on transforming old dysfunctional asphalt ditches on the northern side of Glen Canyon, downhill of the park entrance at Turquoise and Amber, into functional vegetated swales and is beginning work on new trails in this area to replace old trails and failing steps. The Contractor has created a temporary access for the limited heavy equipment they need for the project, as shown in the photo. Please note that this temporary access will be restored as soon as they have completed work in this area. The phasing of this project is a careful exercise in planning around considerations such as bird nesting, stream work limitations and precipitation as it relates to seeding, planting and storm water management. We are doing our best to complete new trail segments in a timely fashion to replace those that have been decommissioned. We anticipate having the trails near the entrance at Turquoise and Amber opened in late Spring/ early Summer. Thank you for your patience! Please heed temporary trail closure signage for your safety and for the safety of our contractors.
This info has just been posted as a blog update on our project page:http://sfrecpa! rk.org/project/ glen-canyon-urban-trails- project/
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Melinda Stockmann
