[Editor’s note: Arlington Cleanup is the same day]
Hello friends and supporters of the Diamond Heights Blvd. Median Project,
With great delight, I’m happy to announce that our median landscape plan will be installed this coming week, with a huge assist from SF Public Works.
We need as big a volunteer turn-out as possible. I will be taking time off from my job to coordinate and partner with volunteers throughout the week.
Please email me if you can help with any one or more of the following:
1) Planting Day, Saturday, October 26, 9 a.m. to 12 noon (details below)
2) A four-hour weekday shift, based on your availability, to help form gopher baskets, and/or assist Public Works (details to be coordinated with me)
3) Help spread one or more of our mulch piles (weekday preferred)
4) Grooming of our previously planted islands (Addison to Berkeley Way, details to be coordinated with me)
If you’re unable to join our volunteer work day in person but would like to show your support, please consider making a financial contribution:
Event: Planting Day
Date: Saturday, October 26
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Location: Meet at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 101 Gold Mine Dr, Parish Hall (Lower Level)
Refreshments: Morning snacks
Lunch: We will serve a hot lunch afterward to say thank you
Please RSVP to me, so we have a headcount for lunch.
Note: if the rain is a drizzle to light sprinkle, we will proceed. Only heavy rain and/or thick fog will cause a cancellation.
Recommended for 12 years and older; no gardening experience required, but there will be bending and kneeling (pads and gloves will be provided). If you have preferred personal gloves, you are welcome to bring them.
Special thanks to our project sponsors: the Diamond Heights Shopping Center, Safeway, and Harbor Villa Restaurant for their ongoing support (including volunteer hours, financial and in-kind donations, and encouragement), and to Lanita Henriquez at the City of San Francisco Community Challenge Grant.
