Our hearts are overflowing this February at the library with gratitude for our amazing and supportive community. We hope you feel the same and would LOVE for you to share your short poetry celebrating our neighborhood, to be displayed in the library. How does Glen Park hold a special place in your heart? We’re accepting one poetry submission per person all month, and encourage poets of all ages to share. Submissions must fit on a single 8.5″ x 5.5″ or smaller piece of paper so we have room to display all your LOVE.
We also think you’ll LOVE the many other free events and services you’ll find at your library this month. Join us for a very special guitar and accordion concert and artist meet-and-greet in collaboration with Groupmuse on Sunday, February 9th. We’re also partnering with On Lok to offer those 60 years and older a 6-week workshop focused on Chronic Pain Self-Management starting Monday, February 3rd.
Youth 7–12 can make a bookmark, wall hanging or patch with local textile artist Cristina Edwards while learning about weaving throughout the world on Saturday, February 8th. And later that same day author Macall Gordon will help parents and caretakers explore the Link Between Temperament and Sleep. If you’re not able to make to the talk, be sure to borrow a copy of her book, Why Won’t You Sleep?!, for free with your library card.
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month. To find out about all the Glen Park Branch Library programs, we recommend you stop by the library to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
