The arts spring to life at Glen Park Branch Library this April! Interested in the written word jumping off the page? Please come out to appreciate and support Ella Gordon, Oakland Youth Poet Laureate, and Students from the Spoken Arts program at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. Are moving pictures more your thing? We’re celebrating the magic of pre-CGI animation with a Ray Harryhausen Film Celebration. Does music get your feet moving? Those 10-15 are invited to learn how to DJ and/or brush up on your DJ skills with DJ Chungtech and Tap10. Don’t fret if you’re out of that age range, though, as you can also make music at our monthly karaoke social or let loose at our Monday Funday Family Dance Parties.
April also kicks off your chance to contribute your own visual masterpiece to our annual Tiny Art Show. Drop in anytime we’re open in April and pick up a free mini canvas to contribute your artwork to the Glen Park Tiny Art Show starting Saturday, May 17th in conjunction with the Glen Park Branch Open House. Canvases available while supplies last. Library staff will curate the exhibit based on its exhibition policy. You can even practice your art or complete your piece at our drop-in Watercolor and Associates events 2nd and 4th Fridays between 1:30 and 5:30.
As always, this update shares a very small sampling of the many programs and experiences you can enjoy free at the library this month. To find out about all the Glen Park Branch Library programs, we recommend you stop by the library to pick up an events pamphlet, visit our website, and subscribe to the monthly Glen Park Branch Library newsletter.
