Glen Park residents who bank at Wells Fargo have been frustrated over the past few weeks when they stopped by the ATM in front of Canyon Market to get cash or deposit a check.
Multiple times in the past month it’s been unaccountably out of service.
Or maybe not so unaccountably. It turns out, people keep trying to break into it.
The most recent effort appears to have involved a blowtorch.
A note on the ATM from the folks at Canyon Market said the machine was scheduled to be repaired on April 24.
The would-be thieves’ attack, which the Market quite reasonably described as “a brutal break-in attempt,” also has meant more Market customers are asking for cash back. That’s why there are signs at their cash registers saying they can’t accommodate cash back on purchases.
“Unfortunately, due to the very low percentage of cash payments, we don’t have much cash in our tills and are unable to supply the demand.”
