If you’ve been shopping in downtown San Francisco, you’ve probably run into Frank Chu, a well-known eccentric who walks near the Powell St. cable car turnaround carrying a sign that prominently features the phrase 12 Galaxies.
A friend added a touch of local realism to a his holiday gingerbread house and Glen Park resident Devin Carraway grabbed a photo of Chu playing a walk-on part and kindly sentit to us
The real Chu has carried out his almost daily protest since 1995. A resident of Oakland, Chu comes to San Francisco to gain a larger audience. Chu believes several former U.S. presidents cooperated with something he terms the 12 Galaxies to commit crimes and treasons. He is awaiting “$20 billions” in compensation for the damages he and his family have suffered.
Chu’s protest has spawned a Wikipedia page and a now-closed San Francisco bar, 12 Galaxies at 2565 Mission St, was named in his honor.
