Planning Department Publishes New Fees

By Bonnee Waldstein

Effective September 1, the Planning Department will be updating its fees. They say the changes are needed to compensate the department for the cost of processing applications for which they are responsible.

They begin by explaining how the new fees have been determined. Math majors will be in heaven.

The myriad of applications for permits and reviews covers such things as building permits, environmental reviews, historic and preservation reviews and applications, variances, hearing fees for large projects, and — of course, miscellaneous fees — a potpourri of items ranging from $39 to $25,504.

Previous fees are not presented for comparison. Perhaps it’s safe to assume the new fees are higher?  Just a hunch.

Comments on this post are welcome. Questions should be directed to the Planning Department.   Please.
