DHB Median Project Update

Forwarded from Paul Matalucci of the Diamond Heights Boulevard Median project

Special Benefit Planter/Pot Sale this Saturday, Two Upcoming Volunteer Days, and Our CCG

Hello supporters of the Diamond Heights Blvd. Median Project,

Three items in this message:
1) Further detail about our Community Challenge Grant
2) Thank you to last weekend’s volunteers, and upcoming weeding dates
3) A special Planter/Pot Sale to benefit the Diamond Heights Blvd. Median Project this Saturday, February 4.

New Community Challenge Grant for $40,948
As I shared in my last email, we’re thrilled by our recent (and second!) Community Challenge Grant award. We thank Lanita Henriquez and her team at CCG for considering our application, and our fiscal sponsor, SF Parks Alliance.

Thank You to Last Saturday’s Volunteers!

Last Saturday, a dedicated band of residents gathered to clear weeds from the first of our five median islands (across from St. Nicholas Church). Thank you to Betsy Eddy, Stephen Yu, Jim Duffy, Jay Estey, Jeff Harlowe, Margaret Dyer-Chamberlain, and Eleanor.

The weeds are thicker this year thanks to the rain, and the secret to control is early intervention. Please join us on one of our next two scheduled maintenance days: Saturday, February 25, and Saturday, March 25.

Please reply directly to me if you would like to participate, or have questions. I will send a reminder closer to each date. (Recommended for 12 years and older; no gardening experience required, but there will be bending and kneeling. Pads and gloves will be provided).

Special Planter/Pot Sale to Benefit DHB Median Project

Our friend and neighbor Kevin Morgan has graciously offered his collection of gently used garden pots and planters as a benefit for the Diamond Heights Blvd. Median Project.

Date: Saturday, February 4, 2017
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or while supplies last)
Address: 5025 Diamond Heights Blvd.
The pots and planters are free. Donations will be gratefully accepted.
Please RSVP to me, Paul Matalucci, at 415-826-0445. And share this email with friends and neighbors who might be interested.

As a side note, some neighbors have asked about the mulch (and current “bareness” of the medians). We’re on a multi-year installation schedule, and some unexpected issues, like broken median irrigation pipes, have to be repaired by the City before we can install our landscape design. Please spread the word. We’re not finished.

All the best,

Paul Matalucci, ABC*, CMG**
